Child Development, Fun & Activities, Tips
Do you love to create and explore art and expression with your kids? Does it intimidate you and you opt to stick to just paper and pencil? Don’t be overwhelmed by what to have on hand. Let us provide a few recommendations on how to stock your art area at home! No last-minute trips to the store for a needed item for a crafting project.
Don’t feel like you have to accumulate it all at once, pick up an item here or there when on sale and begin to gather an art area for creativity and fun!
Don’t despair over how to store your art supplies! We love this 3 tier cart to keep it accessible and available when we need it!
Using bins and storage containers to keep the various supplies organized and easily accessible is key! You can use clear storage units from any retailer to fit your needs. We love the clear, colorful bins at Dollar Store for a cheap option and the larger clear bins at Target!
Allowing your child to create and explore the items is part of the process and key to developing self-expression and hand-eye coordination. Instead of the predictable “Is this a _____?” question you may want to ask your child, ask them to explain what they made to you. Engage with them in the process of creativity by commenting on their use of certain tools or colors by stating “I love how you used that blue, it looks great!” instead of giving directives.
We love seeing your at-home creations! Tag us using #rompnroll. We cannot wait to see what art projects your little ones make! If you haven't already done so, take a free art class at Romp n' Roll! We have a variety of art classes to choose from such as construction, pirates, superheroes, and more! Each class has a themed art project and uses different textiles and tools for creative thinking.
